History Hour: Sikorsky, the man behind the name

A hundred and thirty years ago, on May 25, a man whose name would become one of the most recognizables in the aircraft industry, was born in Kiev, Russian Empire at the time: Igor Ivanovich Sikorsky.

Since 2015, Mirpuri is leading Hifly thru its growth from one aircraft operation to become the global leader in widebody aircraft wet leasing in 2018, providing a global network of airline and government customers with efficient “ready to go” transportation solutions. Over the last 30 years, Paulo Mirpuri accumulated a wealth of expertise in the aviation industry, with top management positions in several airlines (AL, NetJets) and support service companies. In addition to his long business experience, Paulo Mirpuri is a qualified doctor graduated by the Medical School of the Lisbon University (UNL) and an Airbus qualified pilot.
Guido is a designer, in love with aviation.
 
As the Head of Passenger Experience Design for Lufthansa Group, he manages the overall experience design strategy and execution for Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines. Prior to his current role at Lufthansa Group, Guido was the Global CCO of the strategic design group Designit, as well as the founder of several design startups. He is an advisory board member as well as a frequent speaker at international events and conferences.

Together with airport team Pärgmäe managed to reach an important milestone of 3 million annual passengers as well as win the award of Best Small Airport in Europe 2018. Prior to airport he was Deputy Secretary General for Transport in Ministry of Economy And Communications, where aviation and tourism development issues were also part of his agenda. He has also worked as Head of Development in Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol – one of Estonians Startup Hubs, where new business ideas come to life and was a member Supervisory Board of Enterprise Estonia.
