Lufthansa profits soar in 2017, but growth won’t last long

Lufthansa Group has reported the best financial result in its history with profits soaring 70 percent to some 3 billion euros in 2017. The Group said its cost-cutting program had prompted the jump in profits, but expects earnings to slip this year primarily due to fuel price increases as well as lack of pilots and crew.

Boeing 737 MAX 7 completes successful maiden flight

Boeing’s new 737 MAX 7, the smallest member of the company’s upgraded narrow-body jetliner range, successfully completed its first flight on March 16, 2018. The aircraft will now start several months of flight trials before entry into service which is scheduled for 2019.

IndiGo and GoAir cancel more flights due to A320neo engine problems

The two Indian low cost carriers IndiGo and GoAir have announced that they would cancel around 626 flights (488 for IndiGo, 138 for GoAir) in March 2018. Cancellations follow the grounding by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of 11 of their A320neo after recurring failures of their PW 110 engines.
