Alitalia is up for sale, but who’s bidding?

After declaring bankruptcy in March 2017, the Italian flag carrier Alitalia is still on auction, struggling to find suitable bidders. Germany’s Lufthansa, British low-cost carrier EasyJet and U.S. private equity fund Cerberus are among companies that have already been named as potential buyers, while it appears that Air France-KLM prefers to bid incognito.

Is Norwegian overstretched?

Europe’s Low-Cost Long Haul (LCLH) trailblazer has become a disruptive force, at one point launching 19 transatlantic routes over a period of just four months last year. But now worries that rapid expansion has left Norwegian overstretched have hit its share price, which fell 40% in 2017.

AU gears up to launch Single African Sky project

The African Union Commission is set to launch the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) project, which is also the first project in the AU Agenda 2063. The project is set to start on January 28, 2018, in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) as a historic event at the African Union Summit, nearly two decades after the adoption of the 1999 Yamoussoukro Decision.
