UAE reports that Qatar intercepted their commercial planes

Tensions between the Gulf neighbors are beginning to rise again with the UAE complaint to the United Nations watchdog regarding Qatar’s warplanes. On January 15, 2018, the UAE officials declared that Qatari fighter jets allegedly intercepted two Emirati civilian airplanes en route to Bahrain.

Zambia Airways to be re-launched by Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines announced that finalizing shareholders agreement with the Government of Zambia for the re-launch of Zambia Airways. The Government of Zambia will be the majority shareholder with 55% and Ethiopian will have 45% stakes in the airline.

Frontier, Volaris enter codeshare agreement

Ultra-low-cost carriers (ULCCs) Frontier Airlines (the United States) and Volaris (Mexico) announce entering codeshare agreement on January 16, 2018. It is the first such agreement between two separately branded ULCCs.
